What is Human Intelligence? What Makes it Unique?

Humans do a lot of things that other animals don't. Like, say, read blogs. But it can be tough to pin down what is fundamentally different about human intelligence. The cognitive basics, like memory and reasoning, are common in the animal kingdom; is there any one thing that sets us apart?
This fascinating article in BBC Future explores some of the surprising ways in which other animals have the same cognitive abilities as us, but does identify one thing only we can do. I won't spoil the ending.
