From Brain Injury to Mental Health:
Creyos Covers the Spectrum of Cognitive Function

Creyos equips neurologists with gamified digital task-based assessments that deliver precise cognitive health insights across a wide range of conditions—including mild cognitive impairment, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases like dementia, and mental health disorders.

Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Identify post-concussive cognitive impairment to guide safer return-to-activity decisions and care plans. Creyos includes validated digitized tests to assess processing speed, attention, and executive function after head injury.

  • Can inform OT support and help coordinated care teams determine treatment plans
  • Results mapped to specific cognitive domains and brain regions to help inform focused treatment
  • Provides a standardized, repeatable and comprehensive testing approach
A beautiful thing about objectively measuring cognition is that we can validate patient experiences. Brain injury is not always visible, so many patients feel like they have to prove their symptoms. The only way to do this used to be with subjective interviews. Now, using Creyos, we can demonstrate where impairment and improvement is happening.

Keep Care In-Network and Coordinated

Creyos gives neurologists data comparable to a neuropsychological exam to make faster, more confident care decisions—reducing the need for unnecessary referrals and improving the quality of information shared when referrals for further neuropsychological tests are required.
  • Clarify care needs with objective, domain-level results to reduce unnecessary referrals.
  • Share reports easily with PCPs, specialists and patient family members to support coordinated care.
  • Guide next steps with built-in care plans that track progress and support families.
The result: better care coordination, less referral leakage, and a smoother patient journey.

Questions About Creyos? We Have Answers.

What neuropsychological tests are Creyos tasks based on?

Creyos is grounded in classical neuropsychological testing paradigms, adapted for digital delivery to provide efficient and precise cognitive assessments. Developed by Professor Adrian Owen, PhD, OBE, FRS, FRSC, FCAHS, a renowned neuroscientist, the platform's tasks are based on well-established cognitive tests and have been validated through extensive research and clinical use.

The Creyos battery includes 12 tasks targeting key cognitive domains:
  • Memory: Tasks like Spatial Span assess short term memory (based on the Corsi Block Tapping Task) and Number Ladder assess visuospatial working memory.
  • Reasoning: Tasks such as Odd One Out (inspired by the Cattell Culture Fair Intelligence Test) and Spatial Planning (a variant of the Tower of London Task) evaluate problem-solving and planning abilities.
  • Attention: Feature Match and Double Trouble tasks, the latter being a variant of the Stroop Task, measure attention and response inhibition.
  • Verbal Ability: Grammatical Reasoning and Digit Span tasks assess language comprehension and verbal working memory.
Each task is designed to be completed in 2–3 minutes, allowing for a comprehensive assessment using all 12 tasks that typically takes under 40 minutes to complete. The platform's digital nature facilitates easy administration and immediate scoring, with results compared against a normative database of over 85,000 individuals.

In summary, Creyos offers a scientifically validated, efficient, and user-friendly approach to cognitive assessment, rooted in traditional neuropsychological testing methodologies.

Who is in the Creyos normative database?

The Creyos normative database comprises data from over 85,000 research participants worldwide, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive cognitive assessment databases available. Initially developed through a large-scale public study published in Neuron, individuals completed a series of 12 online cognitive tasks designed to evaluate various aspects of human cognitive ability.

The database includes more than 14 million task scores. Participants provided demographic information, including age and gender, allowing for the creation of normative comparisons across different age groups, starting from age 6 and up. Gender is also considered in comparative analyses, although it can be omitted to compare a patient to all genders within the same age group

The resulting dataset is considered to represent a generally healthy population, although some health conditions not related to intellectual disability may be present in proportions similar to the general population.

In summary, the Creyos normative database is a robust, scientifically validated resource that enables healthcare providers to compare individual cognitive assessment results against a large, diverse, and well-characterized population. This facilitates accurate interpretation of cognitive performance across various demographic groups.

Can Creyos be used with patients who have known learning disabilities?

Yes, Creyos can be used with patients who have known learning disabilities.

The platform is designed to be inclusive and accessible across a wide range of cognitive and functional capabilities. Tests are adaptive and brief, with simple instructions and intuitive interfaces that minimize reliance on language, literacy, or motor skills—making them suitable for individuals with learning differences.

Can Creyos be used in telehealth settings?

Yes, Creyos is fully compatible with telehealth. Patients can complete cognitive assessments remotely on any device—no special hardware required. The platform supports secure, scientifically validated testing and integrates seamlessly into virtual care workflows, making it ideal for remote monitoring, ongoing cognitive care, and expanding access for patients in rural or underserved areas.

How does Creyos compare to traditional forms of cognitive assessment, like the MoCA, MMSE, or Mini-Cog?

Creyos offers several advantages over traditional forms of assessment like the MoCA, MMSE, and Mini-Cog. While those tools are brief screeners that rely heavily on subjective scoring and clinician interpretation, Creyos provides objective, domain-specific results based on decades of neuroscience research and a normative database of over 85,000 healthy individuals. It makes it easier to identify impairments in individuals with borderline MoCA scores (23–25) Sternin et al. (2019). This makes it possible to categorize them as clearly impaired or unimpaired.

Creyos also delivers more precise, quantifiable insights across key cognitive domains, helping providers detect subtle changes earlier and make more confident decisions (Brenkel et al. (2017)). Creyos is also fully digital, automatically scored, and easily administered in-clinic or via telehealth—streamlining workflow while improving accuracy and consistency.

How has Creyos been validated?

Creyos has been validated through over three decades of peer-reviewed research by leading cognitive neuroscientists. Researchers have published more than 400 scientific studies using the Creyos platform, demonstrating its accuracy, reliability, and sensitivity in measuring core cognitive functions. This extensive body of evidence, combined with the platform's robust normative database of 85,000 participants, confirms Creyos as a scientifically robust tool for assessing cognition across clinical and research settings.
